Verstappen's move not a 'serious thing' | Arkansas Democrat Gazette
Lando Norris said reports that Max Verstappen has considered a move to McLaren are “a cool thing” but “not a serious thing,” as Formula 1 speculation continues. Speaking in Silverstone, England, ahead of his home British Grand Prix on Thursday, Norris reacted to media reports, including Sky Sports, that Verstappen’s management requested and held a meeting with McLaren ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix. Norris noted he does not know how accurate it is, but stressed that he and teammate Oscar Piastri are focused on staying together. McLaren chief executive Zak Brown said on the Up To Speed podcast released Wednesday that Norris and Piastri are “not going anywhere,” and that Verstappen would be considered only if McLaren had an opening. Verstappen remains contracted with Red Bull until end of 2028, with possible earlier exit options. Mercedes interest has been tempered by Toto Wolff’s desire to retain George Russell and Kimi Antonelli.
