Latest Windows update disables key security setting - but there's a workaround - ZDNET
xCruzo Brief
A bug in Microsoft’s October Windows 11 Patch Tuesday update, rolled out on October 13, temporarily disables a key Smart App Control security setting. Smart App Control, added in 2022, is meant to block potentially malicious or suspicious apps and files. Microsoft says it’s working on a fix and that it will be addressed in a future release, but in the meantime users can check whether they’re affected: in Smart App Control settings, the On option is greyed out while Off is selected. ZDNET reports a workaround using a Registry hack with two reg add commands, followed by a reboot to re-enable Smart App Control.
