Local students take to water for Missouri River Days | Fulton Sun
Fourth-graders in Jefferson City, Missouri, traded classroom desks for the Missouri River this Tuesday as Missouri River Days returned to Noren Access for its second year. The program, running through Friday, includes hands-on science activities for elementary students, with first-time participants from New Bloomfield. The event also carries added significance this fall because host organization Missouri River Relief is marking its 25th anniversary. Education Director Kristen Schulte said the initiative has grown from serving Columbia Public Schools to reaching students across more than eight regional districts, and capacity limits now require turning people away. Students rotated through four stations, from Lewis and Clark journaling and watercolor art to guided hikes, fish sampling with the Missouri Department of Conservation, and a boat lesson focused on river safety and drinking-water sources.
