Man indicted in AI-fueled cyberstalking scheme targeting Georgia college student

An arraignment was held for Anthony Belford, 21, of New York, on a federal cyberstalking charge tied to a months-long online harassment campaign targeting a Georgia college student. Belford allegedly used spoofed social media and email accounts between January and March 2025 to harass and intimidate the victim and circulated content via fake online forums, including AI-generated nude images. The U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia described the case as illustrating how digital abuse can have real consequences, while FBI Atlanta Special Agent in Charge Marlo Graham stressed ongoing efforts to identify offenders. Belford appeared in federal court on June 10, 2026, and the indictment was noted as having been returned in late June.
