Mannie Fresh Recalls Being Trapped in New York on 9/11: It Was Chaos

Twenty-five years after the September 11 attacks, Cash Money legend Mannie Fresh recalled what he described as “one of the craziest days of my life.” He said he was in New York during the Cash Money/Ruff Ryders tour when the first signs emerged in the early morning hours—streets were unusually empty and there was no traffic. Fresh said he and his driver realized something was wrong after leaving a studio and returning to their hotel, where the situation escalated into chaos as people tried to understand what was happening. He described shouting, arguments, and racial tension, then watched the second plane hit the World Trade Center. Over the following days, limited phone service and suspended flights left him and his group stuck with few ways to reach family until a bus driver found an exit route about five days later.
