Max Verstappen reacted to Robin Raikkonen, son of 2007 Formula 1 champion Kimi Raikkonen, joining the Red Bull Young Driver Programme. The 11-year-old has entered the pathway with an eye toward reaching F1 in about a decade. Raikkonen impressed in karting and drew Red Bull’s attention as he looks to follow his father’s multi-stint career, including the 2007 title. Verstappen said he spoke privately with both Kimi and Robin before the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, adding that he learned Robin was already signed. Verstappen also joked that Red Bull may still need a seat later. Team principal Laurent Mekies confirmed the signing, citing “exceptional ability” in karting and emphasizing a step-by-step development plan without added pressure.
