More than 3 million Texans may have had personal information exposed in a data breach tied to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) hunting and fishing license system vendor. Texas Cyber Command detected the cybersecurity incident, and TPWD said its investigation suggests an unauthorized user may have obtained driver’s license information, passport numbers (if provided), email addresses, phone numbers, and residential addresses for over 3 million license holders. TPWD added that Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and financial information, including credit card details, were not obtained. The agency said there is no evidence that people under 18 were involved or that a specific group was targeted. TPWD reported it has added security options for future protection. Affected customers are eligible for one year of free credit monitoring through Kroll, with enrollment by Sept. 14, 2026, and a dedicated call center available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. CT.
