New K-12 initiative aims to strengthen school safety via mapping and software
GeoComm, a mapping technology provider, and SchoolDog, a Georgia-based safety management software firm, announced a partnership designed to strengthen K-12 school safety preparedness. The collaboration combines GeoComm’s campus and building mapping with SchoolDog’s platform for administrators, facilities teams and safety groups, linking location context to day-to-day emergency planning and inspections. GeoComm converts floor plans and building data into structured maps of rooms, doors, exits and points of interest, covering indoor and outdoor areas. SchoolDog lets districts record observations, run digital safety walks, conduct drills and manage Emergency Operations Plans. It can route reported hazards, such as damaged doors or blocked passages, into maintenance work-order workflows to track issues through resolution.
