New Layoffs Just Hit Apple's Vision Pro Staff. What That Means for AAPL Stock.

Apple reportedly cut about 200 jobs tied to its Vision Pro and Siri teams, a sign the company may be reshaping its wearable and spatial computing efforts even as it keeps longer-term ambitions alive. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said around 100 employees from each area were affected, including the largely elimination of a Vision Pro gaming team and trimming of an immersive video group that creates original content. Apple plans to produce fewer videos in-house while encouraging third-party companies to build 3D content for Vision Pro users. The cuts come after weaker demand for the roughly 22-ounce headset, launched two years ago at $3,499, with IDC estimating Q4 sales at just 45,000 units. Separately, Gurman reports Apple is exploring a new Vision Pro model as early as end of 2028, and smart glasses aimed at challenging Meta’s Ray-Ban lineup around 2027.
