Not as Sharp': Scottie Scheffler Openly Admits One Quality That Makes Him Better Than Other Golfers
Scottie Scheffler’s “not as sharp” remark highlights how elite golfers reset mentally, and the world No. 1 tied that theme to his approach during the Travelers Championship. On Friday, Scheffler shot a 60 (10 under par), finishing within a foot of breaking 60—an extremely rare score in professional golf. He had one birdie away from 59, which would have made him only the second PGA Tour player to break 60 twice, but he missed the final putt. Scheffler said he may have a less “sharp” long-term memory, making it easier to put past shots behind him. He also credited reviewing good moments to regain favorable feels. He is currently in contention at the tournament, after previously posting a 59 in 2020 at the Northern Trust, a round later lost by 13 shots to Dustin Johnson.
