One of Jerry Sandusky's accusers is to appear for hearing on recanting allegations of sexual abuse

One of the accusers in former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky’s case is scheduled to appear remotely Tuesday for a hearing about recanting allegations of sexual abuse. The court proceeding is part of Sandusky’s latest effort to obtain a new trial. Sandusky, 82, has been serving a decades-long prison sentence since a 2012 conviction on 45 counts of sexual abuse involving eight young men who testified as children. The Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General said the alleged recantation is “highly suspect.” The accuser, identified as R.R., claims authorities coached him and that he could “safely affirm” details he did not fully recall, while defense attorneys say the allegations were based on suggestive questioning and memory manipulation.
