Poll: 70% of Americans 'concerned' AI will take jobs
A new poll finds that job concerns about artificial intelligence are widespread among Americans. About 70% of respondents said they were at least “somewhat concerned” that AI could replace their jobs, including 34% of registered voters who reported being “somewhat concerned.” The survey also estimated that roughly 36% of Americans were “very concerned” about AI replacing them at work. Conducted by Noble Predictive Insights for The Center Square’s Voters Voice Poll, it questioned 2,585 registered voters from June 1 to June 4, including 915 Republicans, 1,013 Democrats, and 297 true Independents. Education and income correlated with higher worry: around 40% of those with a high school degree or less and about 38% with no college degree reported being “very concerned.” Lower household income under $50,000 showed the same pattern, with about 41% expressing high concern. Democrats were more worried than Republicans, while older voters (65+) reported about 72% concern.
