Powerball to expand to UK: How the game may change
Powerball to expand to UK: How the game may change explains how the U.S. lottery will add the United Kingdom under an agreement with Allwyn UK, operator of the UK lottery. The draw, governed in the U.S. by the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), is already live in every state where permitted, plus Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Later this month, Powerball is expected to launch in the UK, with Powerball Product Group Chair and Iowa Lottery CEO Matt Strawn saying it should be a “win” for players. For U.S. participants, gameplay, prize tiers, and odds remain the same, with drawings at 10:59 p.m. ET on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays and tickets costing $2 (or $3 in Idaho and Montana). UK changes include UK ticket sales ending at 11:55 p.m. local time, UK ticket price of £4, a lowest prize of £8 for matching two main numbers, and jackpot payments only as a 30-year annuity.
