Project to Boost AI Skills in South West Tourism and Hospitality
A £275,000 project has been launched to help South West England’s tourism and hospitality sector build practical ways to benefit from advances in artificial intelligence. The South West Visitor Economy AI Skills Accelerator will bring together students and graduates from the University of Plymouth and local industry workers to collaborate with companies on initiatives aimed at tackling sector challenges. Proposed work includes customer insight, targeted marketing, visitor-data analysis, and improvements to the visitor experience. The programme, supported through Innovate UK’s TechLocal AI Professional Degree and Traineeship Accelerator competition, is led by Plymouth Business School academics and developed with partners including the Institute of Travel and Tourism and Destination Plymouth.
