Rapper insists 'I'm no danger to public' after serving 18 years for robberies
xCruzo Brief
Raphael Davis, also known as “S.Lokez,” says he is “not a danger to the public” after serving 18 years in prison for robberies as a teenager, despite the long Imprisonment for Public Protection (IPP) sentences being scrapped. The Birmingham rapper received two IPP terms at ages 14 and 19, and the Ministry of Justice says IPP sentences were abolished in December 2012. Davis was jailed only months before that change. His family says he remains trapped by an indeterminate sentence even after completing required behavior programs and gaining trust during resettlement days out. The case follows the early release of 700 prisoners in England and Wales, with more due next year, as the government cites overcrowding.
