Rent Help Pittsburgh provides a lifeline for those facing financial hardships | KD Sunday Spotlight

Rent Help Pittsburgh Executive Director Abby Rae Lacombe said many clients arrive after a rapid turning point—ER visits, job loss, or a family member can’t return to school or work—when rent becomes the immediate problem. The nonprofit steps in at the point of eviction, helping Pittsburgh residents navigate housing resources and reinforcing that the crisis isn’t their fault. Lacombe helped start eviction prevention programming in eviction courts, bringing together legal aid, landlord-tenant mediation, rental assistance, and Allegheny County DHS. That effort has expanded into the One Roof Housing Resource Fair, and since launching in 2020, it has kept more than 12,000 households housed.
