Rep. Ilhan Omar's apple cider vinegar assailant sentenced to 14 months in prison

Anthony Kazmierczak, the man who sprayed apple cider vinegar on Rep. Ilhan Omar during a town hall event in January, was sentenced Friday to 14 months in federal prison. The 56-year-old agreed to the term as part of a plea deal with prosecutors in Minneapolis. He will also face three years of supervised release, including restrictions meant to prevent any contact with Omar, a member of the “Squad.” During the Minneapolis incident, Kazmierczak used a syringe to spray water mixed with vinegar at Omar and shouted that she was “splitting Minnesota apart.” No injuries were reported, though Minneapolis Council Member LaTrisha Vetaw vomited later.
