Seeking a promotion, Pappas says he's got a bipartisan record of achievement
Democratic Rep. Chris Pappas formally filed for the U.S. Senate in New Hampshire, promising a bipartisan approach to tackle the affordability crisis. He cited his four-term tenure and highlighted contrasts with his expected Republican opponent, John Sununu, who is poised to enter the race after a 2008 defeat. Pappas touted positions on border policy, a ban on stock trading by members of Congress, and opposition to IRS data probes. Manzur, an Exeter scientist, challenges Pappas in the Democratic primary, while Sununu is expected to file and will face Scott Brown in the GOP primary on Sept. 8. Pappas's critics, including Sununu's spokesman, accuse him of voting with party leaders on taxes and energy policy, while Platner faces scrutiny in Maine amid allegations of past misconduct.
