Silver Lake, Intel-backed Altera confidentially files for US IPO

Chipmaker Altera, backed by Silver Lake and Intel, has confidentially filed for a U.S. initial public offering, the company said Tuesday. The filing follows Reuters reporting last week that the offering could raise more than $2 billion as early as this year, based on people familiar with the matter. Altera designs programmable chips used in data centers and telecommunications networks, as well as industrial equipment. Its customers also include sectors such as AI applications and aerospace and defense systems, where reconfigurable compute can be valuable for specialized workloads. Altera’s IPO details weren’t disclosed in the filing statement.
