South Korean Crypto Exchange Bithumb Confirms Hack of Internal System, Investigates Data Leak - FinanceFeeds
South Korean crypto exchange Bithumb has confirmed a cyberattack on its internal mobile work system that exposed personal information, though it has not verified whether customer data was compromised. The breach was found on October 27, 2026, and reported publicly the next day, according to Yonhap. Bithumb said an unauthorized external party accessed its internal mobile groupware used by employees for communication and administration. Records related to employees were among the exposed data, but investigators have not ruled out customer information. The exchange reported the incident to KISA and the Personal Information Protection Commission and noted its administrative infrastructure is separate from its trading platform, with no confirmed cryptocurrency theft.
