SpaceX Reveals What Louisiana Residents Can Expect From Launches

SpaceX met with Vermilion Parish residents Thursday, September 24, in Abbeville to address concerns about the company’s Starbase Louisiana project. Representatives discussed what rocket launches from the Louisiana coast could mean for nearby homes, including expected vibration levels. SpaceX said the closest home is believed to be about four miles from the proposed launch site, and the company has not found evidence that launch vibrations cause foundation problems or structural damage. It also said it tracks surrounding homes and culturally significant locations and invites residents to contact the company if they believe they’ve been affected. The meeting also covered transportation planning, including Highway 82, while responsibility for road upgrades remains under evaluation.
