The Apple Watch Series 12 Will Track More Than Just Health Data
At Apple’s “Surprise and Shine” event, the company unveiled the Apple Watch Series 12 with a new layer of on-wrist AI. The headline feature, “Siri Recap,” is designed to summarize the user’s day, including what was discussed in a meeting, using Siri and Apple’s Private Cloud Compute approach. Apple says the feature provides a generalized overview rather than a transcript or stored audio. Additional “Audio Intelligence” tools include recalling what someone just said with a double-press of the digital crown, and recognizing sounds such as a doorbell. Some capabilities arrive in beta this fall. Apple also claims a more accurate “Health Sensing System” with heart-rate readings every five seconds and heart-rate variability every four seconds, plus updates to its Health app and a new Readiness app. The Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 go up for pre-order starting at $399.
