The Ghost in the Shell' Anime Gets Latest Newtype Cover

The Ghost in the Shell anime franchise is expanding with a new project that will bring additional “Newtype” coverage ahead of its debut. In May 2024, the tentatively titled The Ghost in the Shell project was announced for a 2026 arrival, with Science SARU involved and a production committee that includes Bandai Namco Filmworks, Kodansha, and Production I.G. The series is scheduled to premiere July 7, 2026, and Prime Video will stream it worldwide outside Russia and China, with Japan getting an early exclusive period. The latest update places the series on the 8/2026 cover of Newtype. The English dub cast list was provided for characters including Motoko Kusanagi and Daisuke Aramaki. Direction is tied to a directorial debut by Moko-chan within the Ka-Anival!! programming block, while Shuhei Handa handles character designs and serves as chief animation director. The main cast has not yet been fully revealed.
