The Software Deal That Could Put Anduril Inside Every CCA The Air Force Buys

Anduril is taking a major step toward powering the U.S. Air Force’s future Collaborative Combat Aircraft fleet after a new collaboration with hypersonic startup Hermeus. Announced September 3, the partnership targets Quarterhorse Mk 2, a reusable unmanned aircraft designed for Mach 5, with supersonic test flights planned for 2027. The Air Force also plans next year to down-select a single primary autonomy provider for its first CCA batch. Unlike past programs that bundled aircraft and software, the CCA approach separates the drone supplier from the autonomy AI. Anduril’s Lattice for Mission Autonomy would serve as the core mission-planning and execution engine for Quarterhorse Mk 2.
