Titans Waiver Claims: Robert Saleh Adds 4 New Defenders, Makes 1 Surprise Cut

The Tennessee Titans made several waiver moves after roster cut day, adding four defensive players—despite an expectation that an offensive-line swing tackle could be an option. The team has already confirmed the release of linebacker Mohamoud Diabate to open a spot. Among the early claims is linebacker Owen Pappoe, who spent the last three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals and led the team in special-teams snaps in 2024–25. Pappoe recorded a forced fumble and 28 tackles in 2024 and added another forced fumble in the preseason. Defensive tackle Nazir Stackhouse joins from the Green Bay Packers, where he totaled 12 tackles in 13 rookie appearances, including 10 assists. Cornerback Melvin Smith Jr., also entering his second season, comes off Kansas City Chiefs training camp where he showed progress as a backup but exited the final preseason game with a rib injury on Aug. 28, potentially positioning him as an upside IR stash for Tennessee.
