TPWD accepting drawn hunt permit applications for 2026-2027 season

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is accepting applications for its drawn hunt permits for the 2026–2027 season, with nearly 9,800 permits available across more than 60 hunt categories. The program allocates permits for drawn hunts on both public and private lands throughout Texas. Applications open now and must be submitted during monthly windows from Aug. 1 through Nov. 1, with deadlines on the first and 15th of each month. Fees vary from free to $3–$10 depending on the category, and adult hunters selected for hunts may also need a special permit fee of $80 for regular hunts or $130 for extended hunts. Last year, TPWD received more than 500,000 applications. Hunts include white-tailed and mule deer, pronghorn, turkey, alligator, and dove, along with guided packages for exotic species and bighorn sheep. TPWD handles all steps electronically, and applicants can check drawing results online.
