Trump Announces 'AI Force,' Dismisses Superintelligence Concerns as a 'Hoax'
President Trump said Saturday that he is forming a new “AI Force” and is looking for an artificial intelligence “czar” to police potential misconduct as AI expands rapidly. He again dismissed concerns about AI superintelligence as another “hoax,” likening the anxiety to other issues he has described as hoaxes, including the Russia investigation, “men in women’s sports,” and his two impeachments. Trump also characterized what he called a “crazed Data Center attack” as a direct attempt to target the AI industry. In Truth Social remarks, he said the government will not hinder AI’s growth and would pursue “BAD” behavior using the existing criminal justice system. He compared the AI Force to Space Force, calling it a success from his first term, and said he is evaluating “High I.Q. individuals” for the leadership role. The announcement comes a day before Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent meets Chinese Premier Li Qiang, where tariffs and AI are expected to be discussed, including both open and closed-weight model approaches.
