Speaking Sunday during a trip in Ireland and after watching a golfer tee off in the Irish Open at his resort in Doonbeg, Trump said the U.S. is leading China in AI and that “whoever wins AI wins.” He acknowledged some regulation but gave no details on what rules might look like, dismissing warnings about AI moving too fast and with too little oversight as coming from “negative forces” he did not identify. His comments came a day after Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei urged industry to put the brakes on and allow safety measures to catch up, with Elon Musk and Sam Altman also agreeing.
