Trump says Melania hates the 'YMCA' dance, which appeared at World Cup
The “YMCA” fist-pumping dance theme resurfaced at the World Cup after Belgium’s players appeared to adopt a Trump-style celebration following their win over the U.S. in a July 6 round-of-16 match. President Donald Trump has long performed the move to “Y.M.C.A.,” and he said on Jan. 6 that Melania Trump dislikes it because she considers it “un-presidential.” Belgium’s celebration came after striker Romelu Lukaku scored in second-half stoppage time to complete the victory. The game was also tied to controversy: U.S. forward Folarin Balogun initially received a red card on July 1, but FIFA suspended the punishment after Trump lobbied FIFA president Gianni Infantino, allowing Balogun to play. Belgium later appealed to review the decision, but FIFA denied it. WHO is involved includes Trump, Melania Trump, Belgium’s team, and FIFA, with broader reactions from figures such as Rep. Joyce Beatty.
