Verstappen has chosen Red Bull until 2030 -- but should he have left?

Max Verstappen has extended his Red Bull contract through the end of 2030, ending months of speculation about his future. The deal effectively adds two years to his previous agreement that was set to run through 2028, reportedly worth between £70 million and £100 million a year. It’s a major show of faith from the four-time world champion, who called Red Bull a “second family” and wants to help the team return to the front. But the decision comes as Red Bull sits fourth in the constructors’ standings after the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix, with Verstappen winless in 2026 and sixth in the drivers’ standings.
