Wandsworth Clockwork Orange landmark set to be replaced

Wandsworth Council is set to vote on replacing the “iconic” circular advertising structure at Wandsworth Roundabout, a landmark installed in 1995 that sits above an underpass featured in Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange. The council is recommending approval for a new timber “tree-inspired” structure that would be roughly 25 meters tall. Residents have raised concerns through 153 objections posted on the council’s website, calling the plan an “eyesore” and a “waste of money.” Council officers say the new structure would be on a similar scale, create a “focal point” for the roundabout, and that privately funded plans by Wildstone Estates would address any planning issues.
