Was Supposed to Kill Wix. Google Just Gave It a Way to Fight Back.

Wix said it is partnering with Google in a bid to counter competitive pressure from AI-driven website builders. On Aug. 24, Wix announced that its Wix Harmony builder is now embedded inside Google Gemini as a connected app. Users can type “@Wix” in Gemini’s chat and describe a site they want using voice or text; the integration then generates a working website hosted on Wix’s infrastructure, with features such as commerce, payments, scheduling, and SEO. The service is live for Gemini users in eligible markets, and the announcement contributed to gains in Wix stock. The article also notes Wix cut about 20% of staff earlier in 2026.
