Waterloo woman retires early after winning $2 million lottery prize

A Waterloo woman, Debra Bickle, 69, is retiring early after winning a $2 million Mega Millions prize from the June 5 drawing, which had a $368 million jackpot. She bought the ticket at a Waterloo Walmart self-serve kiosk and only checked it after the drawing, per an Iowa Lottery release. Bickle planned to retire in December after 26 years in software, but the windfall accelerated that plan; she claimed the prize on June 12 at the Iowa Lottery main office in Clive, saying she intends to share the money and fund her grandchildren’s education and home improvements.
