Waymo robotaxis go live on the Lyft app in Nashville

Waymo’s driverless cars have started going live on the Lyft app in Nashville, making the market the first place where the same autonomous fleet is offered through two competing rideshare platforms. The service initially covers central Nashville—including Downtown and Broadway—plus North Nashville and Germantown, East Nashville, Midtown, and South Nashville. Riders can select Standard, Priority Pickup, Wait and Save, or Extra Comfort with no extra charge for being matched to an autonomous vehicle, and availability will expand in the coming weeks as rides are assigned dynamically across platforms. Waymo owns vehicles and driving technology, while Lyft’s Flexdrive manages fleet operations and is opening an 80,000-square-foot depot in October, adding more than 70 technician and operations jobs.
