When does Mackinac Island season end? How long you have to visit

Mackinac Island’s tourism season typically runs through October, the island’s tourism bureau says, though some businesses may scale back or close earlier. The Grand Hotel’s “closing” is set for Oct. 25–26, 2026, and the Halloween weekend on Oct. 30–31 is identified as one of the final major visitor events. With more than 1 million visitors per year, the island remains open year-round even after many summer operations wind down. The bureau lists late-season activities including Sip N’ Sail sunset cruises through Oct. 31, Picnic boat tours until Sept. 30, weekly “Somewhere in Time” screenings through Oct. 21, and the Great Turtle Run on Oct. 24.
