Woman banned from Instacart, arrested after Ring camera captures her slapping child during delivery
A woman identified as Kia Lowery, 36, was arrested after St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said a Ring camera captured her slapping her child during an Instacart delivery. The incident occurred on May 31 outside an apartment in St. Augustine, with the video shared online by the resident. Authorities said deputies analyzed the footage, identified Lowery as an Instacart employee, and identified the victim as her 6-year-old child. According to the sheriff’s office, Lowery placed a case of bottled water in the boy’s arms; the child dropped it, and water spilled on the floor. The report states Lowery then ran after him and slapped his face, while yelling profanity. Lowery faces a charge of child abuse without great bodily harm, and the sheriff’s office said she is ordered to have no contact with the child upon release. Instacart told Action News Jax she was permanently banned.
