Microsoft’s planned Xbox price increases still won’t erase losses on current hardware. According to an analysis reported by Windows Central editor Jez Corden, Microsoft is losing about $150 per Xbox Series X and Series S console shipped. The move, effective Saturday, comes just days before an Aug. 1 deadline that would push the Xbox Series X to $799.99—up from $649.99. The 1TB disc-equipped Series X rises from $649.99 to $799.99, while the 512GB Series S increases from $399.99 to $499.99. Microsoft’s June 25 Xbox Wire post cites storage and memory prices rising more than 2.5x and expected to double again by fall 2027, with the Series X 2TB Galaxy Black discontinued.
