Your Facility AI-Ready? Rethinking 24/7 Resiliency and Infrastructure
Facilities planning for “AI-ready” operations are being urged to rethink how they handle 24/7 resiliency and infrastructure, as broadcast-style support practices struggle to keep pace with next-generation systems. The article notes that while broadcast engineers have experience in keeping radio, TV, cable and other media services running—often through IP-based workflows such as ST 2110—there’s usually no formal, regularly trained agenda for network systems or a long-term plan for upskilling staff. It argues that preparedness should focus on mandated redundancy, including dual chillers and backup power arrangements that support HVAC through dual A&B panels and on-site generator systems with 24 to 48 hours of fuel supply (or split gas/diesel options). It also highlights hot-aisle/cold-aisle layouts, dual-routed alarms, and warns against cost-saving “rolled back” environmental monitoring practices in computer environments that must run continuously, including AI-centric platforms and data-center control rooms.
