Allegiance Flag Supply's journey from wedding gift frustration to the White House

Allegiance Flag Supply began when a moldy wedding gift inspired three friends in North Charleston, South Carolina, to start a company. Katie and Wes Lyon and Max Berry hung the flag outside their new home, only to see mold creep across the fabric and stitching fail. They launched with roughly $5,000 and a mission to support American jobs and manufacturing. Initially they worked with sewing shops nationwide, but demand grew and, in October 2021, they opened their own manufacturing facility in North Charleston to bring production in-house. The company now sews roughly 5,000 flags per week ahead of Flag Day and America’s 250th anniversary, including some headed to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., the White House.
