Analysis: The scale of Trump's political blunder in Iran is coming into focus | CNN Politics
Analysis: The political misstep over Iran highlighted by public opinion is coming into sharper focus as new polling clarifies what Americans think about the Trump administration’s approach. A CBS News-YouGov poll found 78% of Americans want the Iran war ended now, while 22% prefer to continue until Iran gives up more. Crucially, only 22% said the memorandum of understanding favors the United States over Iran; 37% said it favors Iran and 41% said it is about equal. Support also appears limited among Trump backers, with just 39% of Republicans calling it better for the U.S. Strategic concerns dominate, with 45% to 29% saying the war hasn’t succeeded and 69% expecting the deal won’t permanently stop Iran’s nuclear program. The finding echoes earlier Fox News polling from mid-June.
