Arrested in Bay Area human trafficking crackdown during World Cup

A Bay Area human trafficking crackdown tied to the FIFA World Cup resulted in 25 arrests and outreach to more than 50 victims, according to the FBI. The agency said Thursday that coordinated enforcement operations targeted San Jose, Mountain View, Campbell, Oakland, and San Francisco during the tournament period, working alongside local law enforcement. Between June 9 and July 2, officials said 53 victims were contacted, including 11 children who were successfully recovered. The FBI also reported multiple firearms seized and, nationwide, between June 8 and July 19, 33 child victims and 38 adult victims were recovered, with 80 suspects arrested. About $220,000 was seized. Separately, FBI efforts included drone enforcement, citing 22 operators in the Bay Area and seizing 18 drones; over 700 were seized nationwide.
