Can Grand Rapids' GRR Keep Its Crown as America's Best Small Airport?

Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids (GRR) is competing to win USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice poll for America’s best small airport. GRR previously took the top spot in 2023 and 2025 and finished second in 2024, and organizers say a newly opened $135 million Terminal Enhancement Project is driving momentum. The upgrade adds self-service check-in kiosks, automated bag drops, and a high-tech baggage system using smart totes to move luggage faster and track it throughout the process. Travelers can also find local food and drink options like Prospect Hill, Aletitude, and Bell’s Brewery’s Tap and Table, plus children’s play areas and a Military Welcome Center. Voting runs until Monday, October 5 at noon Eastern, with winners announced Wednesday, October 14.
