Closing for nearly 2 years for downtown Kansas City, Missouri, park project
xCruzo Brief
A downtown Kansas City, Missouri, park project will shut down Interstate 670 for nearly two years, starting in early December, a spokesperson said. The closure will be in both directions and will affect all lanes between I-35 and U.S. 71, with the highway work extending from Broadway Boulevard to Grand Boulevard. Tunnel work will run from Broadway Boulevard to Baltimore Avenue. Phase One will build half the tunnel infrastructure supporting Roy Blunt Luminary Park and create the park’s first block from Wyandotte Street to Baltimore Avenue. Drivers and workers expect major disruptions, including added commute time, while city officials say more details are planned for Tuesday.
