CNN Threatens Donald Trump With New Legal Action Over Air Force One Ban
CNN has warned the White House it will return to court unless officials stop keeping its crews off Air Force One, escalating a dispute that followed a previous legal ruling. CNN’s lawyer, Ted Boutrous, set a deadline of 5 p.m. ET Thursday for written confirmation that the policy will end. The demand came in a letter to the Justice Department, reported by Brian Stelter, and argued the exclusions punish CNN for its journalism and are “mistaken, counterproductive, and unlawful.” The letter follows a federal judge blocking Donald Trump’s administration from reinstating a ban on CNN, MSNBC and Politico; those outlets can reenter White House grounds. CNN says the conflict continues because the presidential press pool seats remain inaccessible, including at least four Air Force One trips despite CNN being the scheduled TV pool outlet.
