Could improved vision from eye surgery be the big fix for Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Blue Jays?
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s offseason may include a new approach to his vision problems. Multiple reports say the Toronto Blue Jays first baseman recently underwent corrective laser eye surgery, aiming to improve how he picks up pitches that reportedly left him overmatched during the 2026 season. A social media post from the Laser Eye Center of Miami said the surgery was successful, but did not specify the exact procedure or date. The center posted an Instagram message—“Home Run Vision”—with Guerrero at a post-op visit with Dr. Gabriel Lazcano. Guerrero previously used glasses or contact lenses and, when asked about issues at season’s end, said he wouldn’t make excuses. He struggled with only nine home runs, a .260 average, and a .332 on-base rate.
