Federal Agents Search Home of Rep. Ilhan Omar
Federal Homeland Security agents executed a court-approved search warrant at Rep. Ilhan Omar’s home in the Washington area on Monday, according to three sources familiar with the matter. The action occurred within the 60-day window before midterm elections, a period when the Justice Department has historically avoided investigative steps involving political candidates. The search follows DHS officials’ recent claim that they were investigating Omar, a Democrat from Minnesota, over her family’s immigration paperwork. Investigators have also reportedly looked into other areas, including finances, campaign funds, and interactions involving a foreign citizen. A Justice Department spokesperson said the search was part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation.
