Demorest to consider $5.3M in water projects - Now Georgia
xCruzo Brief
Demorest (Georgia) could advance Tuesday with $5.33 million in planned water-system improvements and possible changes to employee retirement benefits, items discussed after they were first considered in March. The Demorest City Council will hold a 6 p.m. work session Aug. 4, followed by a 7 p.m. regular meeting at the Demorest Municipal Conference Center on Alabama St. The largest item is a $5.1 million contract for water line improvements in the Iron Ore pressure zone, plus smaller booster station upgrades on Ga. 17, 105 and 225, and five new flow meters. Separate from the water projects, the council will consider pension options in the Georgia Municipal Employees Benefit System, currently using a 1.5% multiplier.
