A police chase in Coffee County, Georgia, escalated after deputies say the driver reached 124 mph and went through an active school zone. Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle on Oct. 20 that matched one involved in a reported altercation on Jeff Lewis Road. The driver, identified as Laquavious Tequan Douglas of Waycross, refused to pull over, authorities said, and during the pursuit traveled on the wrong side of the road. Deputies used a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) near Riverbend Estate Road, where Douglas’ vehicle overturned. He was taken for medical evaluation and then cleared and jailed. Charges include felony fleeing, reckless driving, and lane violations.
