Every day there is killing': Gazans face Israeli strikes despite ceasefire as peace deal stalls
Gaza residents say Israeli strikes continued almost daily even after a ceasefire began on 10 October last year, while peace talks have stalled. The BBC reports that 31-year-old Fida al-Toutah, a mother of five, was killed on 21 September when gunfire erupted near her tent in central Gaza; her husband Ahed described the truce as “all lies,” saying killing continues every day. Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry says more than 1,400 people have died in Israeli attacks since the ceasefire began, with figures considered reliable by the UN. Israel says it targets Hamas operatives and accuses Hamas of violations. Israel Defense Forces said they had no record of Fida’s killing. The war’s total death toll exceeds 74,000, according to the same ministry.
