Father of Georgia school shooter gets 15 years in prison

Colin Gray, the father of Georgia school shooter Colt Gray, was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Thursday, just two days after Colt received a life sentence. Colt, now 16, was sentenced to life without parole for the Sept. 4, 2024 shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia. The attack killed two teachers and two students, and left another teacher and eight students injured. Prosecutors said Gray was responsible for enabling the attack by failing to address warning signs, including not removing his access to guns. Judge Nicholas Primm cited numerous failures by Colin Gray, including lack of monitoring, school involvement and mental health support. District Attorney Brad Smith said Georgia law prevents charges against Colt’s mother, Marcee Gray.
